Web Site Instructions

 Web site content and accessibility

Most of the information on our web site can be accessed by anyone on the Internet. Some information is restricted to the working group members, like draft versions of documents in the writing phase and contact details for members.

  • Web pages

Regular web pages are accessible through the menu of the web site :

The pages under the “Members only” menu are accessible only to our members, and when they have successfully logged in.

  • Posts and comments

Posts and comments are more interactive ways to share information via the web site.

The two most recent posts are visible at the bottom of the home page.

Posts are also visible in a self rotating display under the menu, on the home page.

To see a complete post click on the “View full post” or “Read more” button. These Display the full post, inlcuding pictures and comments, with the possibility to add a new comment.

Recent posts and recent comments are accessible via the “Recent posts” and “Recent Comments” boxes on the left of the page.

Registering to the web site

Our WG members are automatically registered in the web site users list, as “members”.

Other interested people can be added as a “subscriber”: send an email to the web site administrators in order to present yourself  and ask to be registered.

When a person is newly registered, he/she receives an automatic email with log in information.

Logging in to the web site

In order to log in to the web site, registered users (members and subscribers) have to click on the “Log in” item under the Login menu on the left of the web page.

Adding content to the web site

  • Web pages

Regular web pages and downloadable documents are published and managed by the web site administrators only. In order to have information published in the main structure of the web site, members, subscribers and unsubscribed readers need to send the information by email to the web site and newsletter editorial team (lfd-eurcold@irstea.fr).

  • Posts and comments

In addition to the regular web pages, it is possible for members and other people having “subscribed” to the web site to send “posts” as well as comments to previously existing “posts”. Only the more recent posts and comments are prominently visible on the main page of the web site.
=> In order to send an information via a “post” or a “comment”, web site users have to be registered (see: “Registering to the web site“).

Logged in users can create a new post by clicking on the “Add new post” item under the Login menu on the left of the web page :
– type a title,
– type (or paste) your text inside the editor sub-window,
– optionally choose one or more “Category” for the post (to facilitate ulterior searches),
– click the “Submit for review” button.
When you are done, go back to the regular web site by clicking on “Levees and Flood Defenses” on the upper left corner.
There are more functions, we will not detail here how to use them. There is a “Help” button at the upper right corner of the page. We do not encourage using features other than the basic ones listed here.

Logged in users can add a comment on an existing post on the page of the post.
At the bottom, use the “Leave a reply” field and Click “Submit Comment”.
